A shared craft: Andersen welcomes a German bakery delegation

Representatives of more than 20 German bread-making businesses visited Andersen, finding common ground in skilled hands, carefully made bread and hand-cut noodles.

On 14 January 2025, Andersen Nordic Bakery welcomed a delegation representing more than 20 German bread-making businesses during their visit to Vietnam. At our bakery in Hanoi, the occasion became an exchange between people who share a working life shaped by flour, fermentation and attention to detail.

Craftsmanship that made an impression

The visiting specialists were struck by the skill of Andersen’s bakers. Working in a modestly equipped bakery, the team produced bread that the delegates praised for its quality and its expression of the Nordic baking traditions Andersen follows.

Recognition from fellow professionals in Germany was particularly encouraging for our team. Behind each batch are an understanding of ingredients, a feel for the dough and small adjustments made by the baker — knowledge built through daily practice.

The maker’s touch in every strand

Our handmade noodles left a lasting impression. Watching the team cut individual strands by hand reminded the delegates of traditional methods once familiar in Germany, when a maker’s hands and experience guided each stage of production.

In the delegates’ reflections, that care gave the handmade product a character and appeal they especially valued in an age of mechanised production. For Andersen, their response was an encouragement to preserve the hands-on techniques that contribute meaningfully to the finished food.

A meeting of people who care about their craft

The visit offered the pleasure of sharing our work with people who understood the care behind it. We are grateful to the German delegation for their interest and thoughtful feedback. Their visit remains a source of encouragement as we continue to develop our craft and bring Nordic baking traditions to the bread we make in Hanoi.
